I am a Chinese immigrant, born in Vietnam, and came to the United States with my family in 1975. I discovered the fun of drawing and mathematics at an early age, which led me toward the study of architecture. I studied architecture and design as an undergraduate at California Polytechnic State University, and attended overseas programs in Denmark and France.

Understanding that architecture is seldom one single object set in an open landscape, I continued my studies in Architecture and Urban Design at Harvard University, receiving my Master of Architecture in Urban Design. My interest in architecture lies beyond the envelope of a building. My research continues on the space between buildings and their relationship to one another, as well as centering on the boundary between the interior and its exterior environment.

I enjoy my interaction with architecture students at the University of California at Berkeley and at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. I especially appreciate the stimulating dialogues with design students. With the rest of my available free time, I like to experiment with oil paint.

Before joining Ron Kappe in a partnership, I was a design architect at Field Paoli Architects and Marquis Associates in San Francisco and Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects in Portland.
